International Student Aid Program
ABOUT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AID
The Cross Purpose Church International Student Aid Program is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by international students in Australia. Recognizing the multifaceted difficulties that these students often encounter, the program offers comprehensive support in the following areas:
- Accommodation Assistance: Finding suitable and affordable housing can be a significant hurdle for international students. The program provides resources and guidance to help students secure comfortable living arrangements.
- Support for Homesickness: Being far from home can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation. The church community offers a welcoming environment where students can connect with others and find emotional support.
- Cultural Shock Mitigation: Adjusting to a new culture can be challenging. The program includes cultural orientation sessions and social events to help students acclimate to Australian society.
- Employment Opportunities: Finding part-time work can be essential for financial stability. The program offers job search assistance, resume writing workshops, and interview preparation.
- Financial Aid: Many international students face financial difficulties. The program provides emergency relief items where needed
- Promoting Cultural Diversity: The program celebrates cultural diversity through various events and activities, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect among students from different backgrounds.
- Addressing Discrimination: Unfortunately, discrimination can be a reality for some international students. The program offers a safe space to discuss these issues and provides advocacy and support to address and resolve such incidents.
This program is designed to provide holistic support to international students facing these challenges, ensuring they have the resources and community needed to thrive in their new environment.
